Convert Lottie to GIF for Slack

Turn a Lottie animation into a GIF that plays inline in Slack — for launches, celebrations, and custom emoji.

How it works

  1. 1Upload a Lottie file (.json, .lottie, or .tgs), or try the example
  2. 2Adjust frame rate, quality, resolution and transparency
  3. 3Export to any format — or optimize and repackage as dotLottie

Nothing is uploaded. SVG output uses SMIL and needs no JavaScript; APNG and WebM keep the full color and transparency GIF can't.

About using Lottie GIFs in Slack

Slack plays animated GIFs inline and supports animated custom emoji — but it doesn't know what a Lottie is. Convert here and post the GIF like any file, or upload a small square export as a workspace emoji.

For emoji, Slack wants small files (128×128 display, 128KB limit for emoji): use 1× resolution on a small/square animation, drop the FPS to ~12, and keep it short. Transparent GIFs look best on both light and dark Slack themes.

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a Slack custom emoji from a Lottie?+

Export a short, square, transparent GIF at 1× with ~12fps, keep it under 128KB, then add it via your workspace's emoji settings.

Why transparent?+

Slack renders on light or dark themes — a transparent background looks native on both.

Does Slack re-compress my GIF?+

Inline posts keep your file; emoji must meet the 128KB cap, so small and short wins.
